Reflective and White

In a previous conversation about Health and Safety it was brought up that a lot of environments that have a high level of Health and Safety are free of dust and dirt and workers wear white hazard suits.
The colours taken from this were silver and white as they represent sterile areas.

In Case Of Emergency

Following on from my last post, the combination of colour and pattern are important elements in the sculptural forms I am creating. Along side this the use of various typography also gives different messages and gets different reactions even if the words are the same.
It is a departure from the Health and Safety artefacts but not an immediate one as key elements are being re-examined, and re-interpreted.

Key Elements

Form and sculptural elements are now being introduced into new work.
Health and safety artefacts use architectural features in a strict way.
This new work will look at all these features and create unfamiliar semiotics to blur the lines between form and function and aesthetics

In further developments using different shapes have made accidental but key forms used in Health and Safety labels

The next step for these pieces are to incorporate them into an installation so the artefact becomes part of the work and the line between genuine artefact and a piece of art ar blurred.

These are the first few lines for the artefact to sit amoungst

Fire Door Keep Shut

As dazzle camoflague has become a key area of my work, and the theme of Health and Safety runs through all my work, I am introducing existing Health and Safety artefacts to create the camoflague with a combination of colour and pattern.
