As part of my ongoing work into relevant materials and forms, that allow my installations to develop and create a new visual experience that questions Health and Safety, I am working with light and refelctions that create false depth and distorted view.

Brockley part1

Hexa-gone made

1 Hexagon (1m across. Each side 50cm)
150 Internal Triangles (10 x10 x10cm)
400 Triangles inside each Internal Triangle (0.5 x 0.5 x 0.5cm)
60,000 Individual 0.5 triangles to hand colour.
1 of 3 in the series
180,000 triangles in total when the 3 are finished.

As the main colour palette for most of my work is the ever dazzling black and yellow it seemed fitting that they should be the main colours for these drawings. However, when black and yellow are mixed they produce an insipid, murky range of greens and browns from ocre to olive gray.

See that shaded area in the middle? Thats what 60,000 unshaded triangles look like with the image underneath. Watch all these spaces.

A few hundred down, a few thousand to go.

Hazardust

After 2mm triangles and the endless sharpening of the pencils. It occured to me that the dust from the pigment created subtle blends and could be controlled just like the pencil with pressure and precision.

So this is the next method i will use to draw with.

Due to the nature of Health and Safety, A friend of mine recently was told he couldnt help someone cut and mount their work in case he got a paper cut and sued the university. So in response, here is the new mandated paper to be used in uni.
